Kids in the Kitchen 24-10-14

Today's lunch was Sausage Rolls and Ice-cream with Lollies

We were lucky to have Celeste's brother Kyle in to help with the cooking.

Everyone getting into making the sausage rolls

Ryan and Lexi ready to check off the list

Paddy and the chopped up veggies.

The only thing I found was that the sausage roll made a lot of liquid (fat and juices) so the bottom of the sausage rolls was a bit soggy. Next time I would cook them on the grill wrack so the liquid will drip to the tray.

Today on the menu was Burritos and Apple Crumble

 Hughie preparing the Crumble topping

Robbie and Jet preparing the apples

Seth and Robbie cooking the chicken

 Jet and the Salsa

Ozzy doing some dishes

 Jet cleaning up the tables

I really enjoyed cooking with the kids today. I think everyone enjoyed eating the lunch, I know Doug and I did.

First crops planted

We planted our first crops on the 18/9/2014, the week before the holidays, a little early for some spring planting, but most plants are thriving

In the Junior School Garden (Prep & 1) we planted Savoy cabbages, mini cabbages and 3 varieties of tomatoes, Cherry, Roma and Gross Lisse

In the Middle School Garden (Year 2) we planted Carrots and Dragons tongue beans. The beans haven't been coping to well with the weather, however I hope some will survive. The carrots transplanted really well.

The Senior School Garden was planted with beetroot. One was a heritage variety but I think they all got mixed up. They are growing well and might need some further dividing once they are a little more established.
